The Ultimate Family-Friendly Weekend in Lake Havasu

Looking for an easy family getaway from SoCal or Arizona that's packed with sunshine, outdoor adventures, and activities for all ages? Lake Havasu offers the ideal combo of lake watersports, great food, and plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy.

If you’re looking to create lasting memories for your family, here’s a sample itinerary packed with some of our favorite family-friendly activities in Lake Havasu

Friday Evening: Get Settled, Then Stroll the London Bridge

After checking into your Havasu Lux Stays vacation rental, head over to the London Bridge and English Village for an evening stroll. Kids love watching the boats pass through Bridgewater Channel, while parents can enjoy the beautiful lake views and browse the local shops.

Finish the evening with dinner and a few cold ones at Mudshark Brewery, where the relaxed atmosphere and family-friendly, casual menu (think: pizzas, wraps, salads and sandwiches) make it a great first-night stopping point in Lake Havasu City.

Saturday Morning: Beach Time

Start your day with breakfast at Juicy's, then spend the morning at Rotary Community Park or London Bridge Beach. Both are sandy beaches with calm, buoyed swimming areas and playgrounds that are ideal if you have younger kids. There are picnic tables and BBQ areas so parents can relax nearby.

Rotary Community Park also has beach volleyball courts, Bocce ball courts and a skate park. London Bridge Beach offers both basketball and beach volleyball courts.

Don't forget to pack sunscreen, beach toys, and plenty of water—Arizona sunshine can be intense.

Saturday Afternoon: Get Out on the Water

One of the highlights of any Lake Havasu vacation is spending time on the lake. Rent a pontoon boat or Jet Skis for a few hours or simply enjoy swimming near one of the lake's quiet coves.

If you want to be more active on the lake, you can rent kayaks, glass-bottom canoes or paddleboards (we like Western Arizona Canoe & Kayak Outfitters)—or for the more adventurous, try wakeboarding, wakesurfing or water skiing with one of the local outfitters.

Saturday Evening: Family Dinner & Ice Cream

After a fun-filled day on the lake, head to Cha-Bones Steakhouse & Tapas Bar, where the menu features locally sourced ingredients and has a little something for everyone.

We enjoy the raw bar, aged steaks and craft cocktails with our adult children, but Cha-Bones offer a wide variety of pizzas, sandwiches and burgers, as well as an expansive kids’ menu.

As the day cools down and turns into evening, grab an ice cream at Scoop’s or Culver’s while walking around the English Village before settling in for some pool time, game room fun, pickleball or tennis (see our Lake Havasu Luxury Property Rentals to find the vacation home that suits your family’s needs).

Sunday Morning: One Last Adventure

We like taking a short nature walk at Lake Havasu State Park on Sunday mornings with a coffee from Wild Coffee to enjoy the beautiful scenery. But we also enjoy a day of doing (next to) nothing at home.

Our short-term vacation rentals in Lake Havasu are designed to be family-friendly, with loads of amenities to enjoy without ever leaving the property—like a sparkling swimming pool, a fire pit for cozy evening chats, or a resort-style spa for soaking sore muscles after a day of watersports.

Making Family Memories That Last

Lake Havasu is one of those rare destinations where the whole family can find something to enjoy. We started coming here as a family when our kids were small, and later invested and made this our home away from home.

Whether your family loves boating, watersports, hiking, exploring local attractions, or simply relaxing in your luxurious Lake Havasu Airbnb, there's never a shortage of things to do.

When you stay in one of our Havasu Lux Stays vacation homes, you're just minutes from many of Lake Havasu's most popular family attractions and activities, making it easy to spend less time driving and more time making memories together.
